U.S. Genomics’ Trilogy™ Wins IBO Industrial Design Award

Woburn, MA (September 15) - U.S. Genomics Inc. has been awarded the Instrument Business Outlook (IBO) silver award for the design of the Trilogy™ Single Molecule Analyzer. The Trilogy platform permits direct detection and analysis of a diverse array of biological molecules (DNA, RNA, miRNA, proteins, etc.). IBO unveiled the winners of the 11th annual industrial design awards in its August 15 newsletter recognizing the use of innovative forms and functional aesthetics in instrument design of analytical and life science instruments.

IBO presents the awards to recognize instrument companies developing products whose visual appeal enhances their use. Nominees are chosen by IBO from the variety of new analytical and life science instruments that they monitor through trade shows, trade publications and press releases. Criteria include innovation, functionality, style, ergonomics and user friendliness. The winning designs not only meet end-user needs but facilitate manufacturing and marketing.

“It is an honor to be recognized by IBO for the design of the Trilogy™ Single Molecule Analyzer, our first commercially released instrument,” Stephen DeFalco, Chairman and CEO of U.S. Genomics said. “U.S. Genomics’ is committed to pioneering single molecule biology and commercializing its widespread application within the life science industry.”

By offering direct analysis of molecules, the Trilogy™ platform will enable important biological research that is beyond the reach of currently available research tools.

The Trilogy™ technology combines advances in nanofluidics, optical engineering, and novel labeling strategies with life science applications in research, drug discovery and development, and diagnostics. The first applications of U.S. Genomics’ platform include direct detection and analysis of RNA, small RNAs (siRNA, miRNA, etc), and protein molecules as well as analyses of the molecules’ interactions.
